The Council of the EU has announced that it has approved the allocation of 13 million euros to the armed forces of Albania. The funds are from the allocated budget in support of peace, from which assistance is also provided for the arming of Ukraine, quoted by BTA.
The announcement notes that the amount provided to Tirana will be used for the acquisition of armored vehicles for the transport of military personnel. Such vehicles provide protection against small arms and explosive devices. The machines are rugged and can be used for a variety of purposes.
The aid is intended to improve Albania's ability to participate in the EU's common security and defense policy, including in missions, operations and international coalitions. In the field of security, Albania is a reliable partner, the country is a candidate for joining the EU, noted the European High Representative for Foreign Policy and Security Josep Borrell, quoted in the announcement. According to him, Albania fully implements European foreign policy decisions, which is a sign of the clear strategic choice of the Balkan country.
