Russia stated that on Donald Trump's claim that he can quickly end the war in Ukraine should be viewed realistically, given that he has also promised a breakthrough on Middle East peace, but failed to deliver during his presidency. reports "Reuters".

Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova indicated that Moscow paid attention to the statements of Trump, who will face President Joe Biden in the US elections in November, and his vice presidential nominee JD Vance.

"We heard the statements - Trump said he would resolve the conflict within 24 hours, then Vance said that China is a bigger problem for the US than the Russia-Ukraine conflict," Zakharova noted.

"It is necessary to separate the pre-election rhetoric from the statements of public officials charged with the relevant powers. If we're talking about whether it's possible to resolve the conflict, let's be realistic," she insisted.

Zakharova recalled that during his presidency in the period 2017-2021, Trump made ambitious statements about resolving the Middle East conflict.

"They were preparing for the "deal of the century" quite a long time, but it ended in nothing, and under Biden - on the contrary, a colossal historical tragedy happened," she pointed out, referring to the war in Gaza.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed mixed opinions about the US election. In February, he said Biden was the better option from Moscow's perspective because he was a more predictable "old school" politician. In June, he indicated that the outcome would not make much difference to Russia in either case, but it is clear that the US judicial system is being used in a political battle against Trump.

Putin says he takes Trump's comments about ending the war in Ukraine seriously, but does not know details of what he is proposing.

Last week, the Kremlin said it had noticed Biden's verbal slips, including when he introduced Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as "President Putin" at an event in Washington. The statement said Biden's speech, which described Putin as a "crazy killer," was disrespectful and unacceptable.
