Mexican drug lord Ismael "El Mayo" Sambada and Joaquín Guzmán López, son of his former Sinaloa cartel associate, the now detained Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán were arrested in the state of Texas, US Attorney General Merrick Garland announced in a statement last night, as quoted by Reuters and BTA.
According to the statement, both have been indicted on multiple charges in the US for directing the cartel's criminal operations, including the production of fentanyl, the deadliest drug threat Americans have ever faced.
