The voice of the people! Kamala Harris is quickly catching up to Donald Trump - 1

The lead that Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has over Democratic rival Kamala Harris on topics such as the economy and crime is melting, according to the results of a Reuters/Ipsos poll, BTA reports.

Data from the poll, conducted between August 23 and 25, show that Trump's approach to the economy and jobs is favored by 43% of respondents, and for Harris this share amounts to 40%.

A difference of 3% is too small given the survey's margin of error of 4 percentage points. In a Reuters/Ipsos poll late last month, Trump had an 11% lead on economic policy.

Support for Harris and Trump on crime and corruption are equal – 40% each. By comparison, the Republican leader led by 5% in the July poll.

The latest national polls show Harris has held a narrow lead over Trump since she entered the race on July 21 following President Joe Biden's decision to end his campaign. In a Reuters/Ipsos poll from late July, she leads Trump by one percentage point (43% to 42%).

It remains to be seen how independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s decision to suspend his campaign will affect the race. Kennedy Jr., whose approval rating stood at 8% in July, announced his support for Trump on Friday.

The candidate of the Republican Party often criticizes in his campaign speeches the economic policy of the government of Joe Biden and the high inflation that has been going on for several years.

Harris promised to take action, such as beans with the "price hike" by grocers.

The latest Reuters/Ipsos poll shows the economy is the biggest issue for 26% of registered voters. In second place with 22% is political extremism and threats against democracy, and 13% of respondents indicate immigration as the main problem.

Respondents who favor Harris's approach to fighting extremism stand at 42%, while Trump has the support of 36% on the issue.

As for immigration policy, 45% of respondents approve of the Republican leader, and 37% approve of the Democratic Party candidate.

However, neither candidate enjoys widespread public popularity, with 59% of voters saying they have an unfavorable opinion of Trump and 52% of Harris. She is viewed favorably by 47% of voters compared to 39% for Trump.

The Reuters/Ipsos poll was conducted among 1,028 adults across the country, 902 of whom were registered voters.
