The founder of the company "Telegram" Pavel Durov was released on bail after he was arrested a few days ago by the French authorities and after he was questioned by an investigating judge, the Paris prosecutor's office announced last night, BTA reported.
The investigating judge overseeing the case against Durov, who is detained in Paris, placed the Russian billionaire under judicial supervision and banned him from leaving France, the Paris prosecutor's office announced.
"He was placed under judicial supervision with the obligation to post a bail of 5 million euros, report twice a week to a police station and is prohibited from leaving France," the state prosecution said.
An investigation has been officially opened against Durov on suspicion of insufficient cooperation with the authorities in the investigation of crimes and aiding and abetting the commission of criminal offenses in the messaging application "Telegram" owned by him.
The Russian billionaire, who was wanted by France, was detained on Saturday after arriving at Paris La Bourget airport from Azerbaijan.
His arrest came amid a preliminary investigation into lack of moderation and cooperation on the part of "Telegram" of the law enforcement authorities regarding the fight against drug trafficking, fraud and crimes against children on the social network, local media reported.
