The leader of the German left-wing party "Sarah Wagenknecht's Alliance" (ASV) was attacked with pink paint at a rally last night in the eastern German state of Thuringia, where Sara Wagenknecht's party is expected to win third place in Sunday's provincial parliamentary elections, Reuters reported, citing BTA.

A middle-aged white man began spraying paint at the leader of the “Sarah Wagenknecht Alliance” while she was standing on stage. Wagenknecht stepped aside and was not affected. A security guard quickly intervened and arrested the man as the crowd chanted “Sarah, Sarah!“.

„It can be seen that some people do not want us. That speaks for us. Don't be intimidated – we will not allow ourselves to be intimidated,” Wagenknecht said after the man was taken away.

„We are going to change this country,” added Sarah Wagenknecht, who advocates ending military aid to Ukraine and a stricter immigration policy.

The motives of the man who attacked Sarah Wagenknecht with a spray are not known at the moment, Reuters informs.

The party "Alliance of Sarah Wagenknecht" (АСВ) was created in January by separatists from the far-left "Levites" formation. Wagenknecht presents his party as a response to the impasse in German politics created by the rise of the far-right Alternative for Germany, Reuters notes.

Mixing social conservatism with leftist economic messages, the “Sarah Wagenknecht Alliance“ promises higher pensions, better schools, less immigration without excluding refugees, and better jobs without burdensome regulations on employers.
