Several vehicles, one of which was riding Democratic Vice Presidential Candidate Tim Waltz, crashed in Milwaukee. The current governor of Minnesota was not injured, the BBC reported, quoted by NOVA.
The disaster happened around 13:00 local time on September 2. The cars struck were at the rear of the motorcade and were carrying members of the press traveling with Waltz. One person was injured. It is unclear what caused the crash. One of the reporters traveling with Walz said the person injured in the crash had a broken arm and was treated.
Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris called Walz to check on him. The governor of Minnesota said he also received a call from US President Joe Biden.
The vice presidential candidate recounted the incident in remarks at a Labor Day event in Milwaukee shortly after the crash. “Some of my staff and members of the press who were traveling with us were involved in a traffic accident on the way here today. We have spoken to the staff. "I'm relieved to say that with a few minor injuries, everyone will be fine," the Democrat said. He thanked the “Secret Service” and to the local first aid services “for their quick response”.
Republican vice-presidential candidate JD Vance also reacted to the reports, writing on the X social network: “I hope everyone is well”.
