Iran's president Masoud Pezeshkian has vowed to ensure the Islamic Republic's moral police will no longer harass women, handed over BNR.
The statement was made on the occasion of the 2-year anniversary today of Mahsa Amini's death in custody for not following Iran's strict dress code for women. Amini's death led to mass protests in Iran.
The moral police did not have to confront women. I will make sure they are not harassed, Pezeshkian said at his first press conference in Iran since taking office in July.
During the election campaign, he promised to oppose police patrols that enforce the mandatory wearing of the hijab.
