New earthquakes rock Southeast Turkey

No injuries reported in 4.4-magnitude and 4.0-magnitude earthquakes in Malatya and Adyaman counties, respectively

New earthquakes rock Southeast Turkey  - 1

A 4.4-magnitude earthquake shook Malatya County, Southeastern Turkey, the government's Disaster and Emergency Management Directorate (AFAD) reported, as quoted by BTA.

The tremor was registered at 01:38 at night. Its epicenter was in the town of Pütürge, at a depth of 9.58 kilometers.

A magnitude 4 earthquake was also registered at 03:22 in Adyaman district, AFAD informed. The epicenter of this earthquake was in the city of Chelikhan, at a depth of 7 kilometers.

There are no reports of casualties or damage caused by the earthquakes.

Malatia and Adyaman are among the counties that were hit hard by the devastating earthquakes on February 6, 2023, with magnitudes of 7.7 and 7.6, which killed over 53,000 people.

Over the past year and a half, the area of the two counties has often experienced earthquakes with a magnitude above 4.
