The Verkhovna Rada adopted at first reading a bill for increasing military conscription from 1.5% to 5% for all citizens of Ukraine, PolitNavigator reports, citing a statement by People's Deputy Taras Batenko, quoted by Focus.

Batenko expressed dissatisfaction with the fact that such bills, which provide for tax changes, are brought to the parliament literally five minutes before their voting.

The MP also noted that a "real liquidation of small business" is taking place in Ukraine, with the number of closed individual entrepreneurs showing significant growth. "Think about it – almost 92 thousand individual entrepreneurs were closed in the first half of the year. Behind each such entrepreneurial unit is a self-employed person or a whole family," emphasized Batenko.

He added that the increase in the tax burden will mostly affect those citizens who are officially employed and legally working entrepreneurs.

Yulia Tymoshenko, leader of the "Batkivshchyna" party, agreed with this position and recalled that an additional 5% tax is already deducted from the salaries of all Ukrainian citizens.
