US law enforcement busts second major a Chinese hacking group called "Flex Typhoon" and freed thousands of compromised devices from its grip, FBI Director Christopher Wray announced today, Roy reported, quoted by BTA.
At a cybersecurity conference in Washington, Ray said that "Typhoon Flax" was managed by the ``Integrity Technology Group'' self-proclaimed computer company. in China, which also "gathered intelligence and conducted intelligence for the benefit of Chinese government security agencies".
The once notorious Chinese hacking group dubbed "Volt Typhoon" has become the subject of growing concern among Western officials since it was first identified last year as a cyber-sabotage group focused on establishing a presence in a critical U.S. infrastructure.
US officials said it was a Chinese-backed group, while Beijing said it was a ransomware ring.
Representatives from the Chinese Embassy in Washington did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the FBI statement.
