Authorities in the US state of Ohio ordered the evacuation of residents of southwestern Hamilton County due to a leak of a dangerous chemical from a car- tanker, reported Reuters.
"HAZARDOUS chemical spill near state route 128. GO CLOSE IMMEDIATELY and do not exit until further notice. Close and seal doors and windows, close fireplace dampers and turn off the heating," the emergency service said in a statement posted on the X social network.
NBC News reported that people in the Cleves and Whitewater Township areas were urged to evacuate immediately. According to officials, the incident occurred as a result of an open valve on a tank car, which released styrene gas.
