The UN Security Council will hold an emergency meeting today over the escalation of the violence in Lebanon. This was announced by the permanent representation of Slovenia, which is currently the rotating chairman of the council, BNR reported. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is expected to speak at the meeting.
Meanwhile, French head of state Emmanuel Macron is expected to meet with Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian amid Israeli strikes in Lebanon against the Tehran-backed Islamic movement Hezbollah. Earlier, before the UN General Assembly, Pezeshkian insisted on a cease-fire in Gaza and Israel's attacks in Lebanon.
"Hezbollah" confirmed the death of its commander in an attack in southern Beirut. Earlier, the Israeli army announced that it had killed Ibrahim Mohammed Kobeisi. According to the Lebanese authorities, six people died in the attack.
