Great Britain announced today that it has imposed sanctions on five new ships and two shipping companies as part of the sanctions regime against Russia, reports Reuters, quoted by BTA.
Earlier this month, the UK imposed sanctions on ten more ships linked to the so-called "shadow fleet" from Russian vessels. This fleet, according to information from Great Britain, uses illegal methods to avoid Western restrictions on the export of Russian oil.
Russia is rejecting Western pressure to curb oil exports, and the past year has seen an increase in the number of tankers carrying cargo that is not monitored or insured by established Western companies.
