Zelensky wants to expand arms production with Western investment - 1

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said last night , that he wants, with the help of Western investments, to significantly expand the production of weapons in his country, which has been at war with Russia for more than two years, reported DPA, quoted by BTA.

"Our industrial capacity allows us to produce much more drones, more projectiles and military equipment than the financial capabilities of our country allow", Zelensky emphasized in his evening video address.

According to him, the West could provide the money, especially since many partners are currently unable to provide adequate assistance to Ukraine due to a lack of their own weapons.

"In addition, some partners have special technologies that can be used in Ukraine at the moment," Zelensky added.

The Ukrainian leader thanked everyone who has already invested in the defense sector of his country - especially in the production of drones.

Zelensky added that during his visit to Paris earlier in the week, a new Ukrainian-French cooperation model was discussed. Now it will be "developed at the level of defense ministries", noted the Ukrainian president.

Zelensky has repeatedly stated that he wants to turn Ukraine into one of the world's largest arms producers.

As of February 2022, Ukraine is fighting a full-scale Russian invasion. Ukraine relies heavily on weapons supplied by its Western backers, but hopes to dramatically increase the country's production of defense equipment.
