NATO won't want to send troops to Ukraine. According to The Times, if they are “killed by Russian troops”, countries like Britain could quickly find themselves embroiled in war, which would bring the world closer to World War III.
The publication recalls that a day ago the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, in his “victory plan”, presented to the Verkhovna Rada, proposed “to place on Ukrainian territory a comprehensive non-nuclear strategic deterrence package” against Russia.
Experts point out that this “non-nuclear deterrence package” likely to include Western forces stationed on Ukrainian soil for the long term. At the same time, it is recalled that before the large-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, NATO training units were withdrawn from Ukraine “for fear of being attacked”.
Last week it was reported that the UK was considering sending troops back to western Ukraine to train the Ukrainian military. However, no such plans have yet been agreed as the UK and other countries are concerned about the risk their troops will be exposed to in Ukraine.
In addition, The Times reports that, according to analysts and military sources, “the non-nuclear deterrence package” of Zelensky may include various measures and weapons, such as “developing ballistic missiles and building NATO infrastructure”.
According to a Ukrainian military source, Zelensky also had in mind the development of long-range strike capabilities. This includes an increase in the supply of Western missiles or the production of longer-range weapons on the territory of Ukraine, which will not be subject to any Western restrictions.
