French foreign minister Jean-Noel Barro arrived in Kyiv, reported France Press, quoted by BTA, referring to information from the French embassy.
"I'm going to Ukraine today. I support, once again and always, Ukraine's resistance against Russian aggression," the minister said last night in Aix, a day before his first visit to the country.
Baro arrived in Kiev at a time when the capital is on air defense alert due to the threat of Russian kamikaze drones of the Iranian model, AFP notes. He will spend the weekend in the country to meet his Ukrainian counterpart Andrii Sibyga.
Yesterday, the French first diplomat said on the radio "France Enter" that he was going to Ukraine "to remind people that France does not turn its back on any crisis, to say what is at stake in Ukraine".
"It is about the security of our continent, including food and energy security,", he stressed.
His visit comes less than a week after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced his "plan for victory" against Russia, which he presented during a recent European tour.
