French President Emmanuel Macron will welcome Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán this evening at the Elysée Palace ahead of the upcoming summits of the European Political Community (EPC) and the European Union on November 7 and 8 in Budapest, it was announced today the office of the French head of state, quoted by France Press and BTA.

„This visit, which is taking place in the context of Hungary's current rotating presidency of the Council of the European Union, will provide an opportunity to prepare for the (two) summits”, noted the French presidential office.

During the working dinner “the two leaders will also exchange views on various aspects of bilateral relations, in particular in the fields of energy, defense and transport”, added the Elysée Palace.

The French president meets regularly with the nationalist Hungarian prime minister, perceived as a difficult partner in the EU. Usually their bilateral meetings precede important European meetings.

The two leaders met for a working lunch at the Elysée Palace in June, just before Hungary took over the rotating presidency of the EU Council, AFP recalls.
