First case of new variant of monkeypox reported in Germany  - 1

The first case of infection with a new variant of monkeypox has been registered in Germany, BILD newspaper reports, quoted by BTA.

According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), it is the Clade 1b strain. The patient contracted the virus abroad. However, "it is not yet assumed that there is an increased risk in Germany", assure the institute.

On August 13, the African Centers for Disease Control and Prevention declared a health emergency on the continent. Outbreaks of the disease were registered this year in 17 African countries.

Recently, due to an epidemic of monkeypox in Ghana, doctors urged the country's population to refrain from kissing and sexual activity.
