The Turkish army has killed 17 fighters from Ankara-banned Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in northern Syria, the Turkish Ministry of Defense reported on X (formerly Twitter).
„In Northern Syria, 17 terrorists were eliminated in the areas of operations “Euphrates Shield“, “Fountain of Peace“, as well as in Manbij“, the report says.
Turkish army operations, mostly air, have intensified in northern Syria and Iraq since the terrorist attack in Ankara on October 23. To date, according to local media, over 100 PKK fighters have been killed.
On October 23, terrorists attacked the Tusa Aerospace Corporation in the Turkish capital. As a result, 5 people died and 22 were injured. Two attackers were killed. As the intelligence services established, the attackers are PKK fighters and entered Turkey from Syria.
The conflict between Turkey and the PKK has been ongoing since 1984. Turkish authorities consider the PKK a threat to national security and regularly conduct actions against its supporters in the country and cross-border operations in northern Iraq and Syria.
