Belarus will facilitate the exchange of bodies of the dead and prisoners between Russia and Ukraine, the president said of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in Kazan in an interview with NTV, fragments of which were provided by the BelTA agency.
„All this is happening on our territory”, said the head of state in Kazan, where the BRICS meeting was held. “And besides, if the Russians want it, the Ukrainians want it, we will contribute to this process. Lukashenko said that some contacts between Belarus and Ukraine continue. He explained that there are news in the media about the mediation of the UAE in the exchange of bodies and prisoners of war between Moscow and Kiev, but the process itself was organized with the direct participation of Minsk.
The President recalled that the last such exchanges were recently. “The Ukrainian side has nothing against the fact that they will work with us and practically on our territory. We fulfill and will continue to fulfill this humanitarian mission, including for children – it involves their ombudsman, your ombudsman for children's rights, our ombudsman and members of our parliament. “I support this”, the Belarusian leader emphasized.
He thinks that he has normal contacts with the Ukrainians, they can “transmit any signal”. “If they have questions, they can ask us and through us pass on some questions to the Russian Federation, primarily to the military. If there are such questions, we immediately forward them”, Lukashenko added.
