The President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that Volodymyr Zelensky does not feel sorry for the Ukrainians, his ambitions prevail, so he does not agree to end the conflict.
„He doesn't care about it (the people of Ukraine), based on his behavior. Apparently the ambitions have prevailed. But this is not the place for ambition. So it's really not a pity“, Lukashenko told VGTRK journalist Pavel Zarubin on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in Kazan, answering a question about the prospects for ending the conflict in Ukraine.
Lukashenko noted that the completion of military operations now depends “not on the collective West, but on Vladimir Zelensky himself”. “Recently, when I met with Western representatives, I realized that they want peace, but they cannot put pressure on Zelensky. Because it was promised that there would be no pressure, there would be all kinds of support”, the head of state said.
According to the president, the situation changes every day, “today it is seriously in favor of Russia”. Speaking about the situation in the Kursk region, Lukashenko noted that “many Ukrainians died there”. “And, of course, it is not easy for the Russians. There's no point in killing each other. And on the main line, the progress is very serious“, he added.
Lukashenko noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin's strategy - step by step, calm progress - has had an effect, hence Zelensky's slogans, which he calls a “plan for victory”.< /p>
The 16th BRICS summit, which is a key event of the Russian Federation's presidency of the association, was held in Kazan from October 22 to 24. On the second day of the meeting, the participants adopted the Kazan Declaration. Among the main topics of the document are the development of the association, the position on global problems and the resolution of regional crises, including in Ukraine and the Middle East. The BRICS group was formed in 2006 by Brazil, Russia, India, and China, and South Africa joined in 2011. On January 1, 2024, Egypt, Iran, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Ethiopia joined the association.
