Hundreds of opposition activists protested in Belgrade because of the collapse incident shed at the railway station in Novi Sad, reported "Reuters", quoted by News.bg.
Protesters marched past government buildings in the center of the capital carrying banners reading "Blood on your hands" and "Corruption kills", chanting "Arrest Vucic".
Serbian opposition politicians, activists and human rights groups accuse authorities loyal to President Aleksandar Vucic and his Serbian Progressive Party of corruption, ties to organized crime, nepotism and excessive bureaucracy, allegations that Vucic denies.
Serbian Prime Minister Milos Vucevic said authorities were investigating who was responsible for the canopy collapse. According to him, the prosecutor's office and the police are working to identify those responsible.
The train station in Novi Sad was renovated in 2021 and 2022, and the renovation works continued until July this year
The city's prosecutor's office announced that 26 people had been questioned in connection with the incident, including Transport Minister Goran Vesic, and important documents had been secured. Another 14 people have been summoned for questioning.
We recall that on November 1, the canopy above the entrance to the railway station in Novi Sad collapsed, killing 14 people and injuring three others. President Aleksandar Vucic assured that those responsible for the incident will be brought to justice and an investigation has been launched.
