The European Union has expanded its sanctions against Iran because of the support that Tehran provides to Russia in the war with Ukraine, reported Reuters, quoted by BTA.
The European Commission has announced that the Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines (IRISL), its director Mohammad Reza Khiabani and other individuals have been added to the sanctions list.
The new restrictions cover vessels and ports used to transport Iranian-made unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), missiles and related technology and components. These include the prohibition of any dealings with ports and gateways owned, operated or controlled by the sanctioned persons and entities.
The EU also imposes sanctions on three Russian shipping companies – MG Flot, VTS Broker and Arapax – for transporting Iranian weapons, including parts for drones, through the Caspian Sea. These supplies support Russian troops in the war against Ukraine.
