Russian President Vladimir Putin invited Serbian Head of State Aleksandar Vucic to Moscow on May 9, 2025. on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War, Tanyug reported, quoted by BTA.
„I invite you to participate in the celebrations on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War, which will be held in Moscow on May 9, 2025. This most important date symbolizes the end of the most terrible war in the history of mankind. Let us pay deep respect to the feat of our fathers and grandfathers and bow our heads to the numerous victims of Nazism. I am convinced that preserving the memory of the great victory will strengthen the common resolve to oppose all manifestations of neo-Nazism and strengthen constructive cooperation to ensure the peace and security of the planet. I will sincerely be glad to see you in Moscow”, Putin wrote in the invitation.
Vucic and Putin last spoke by phone on October 20 this year, while the last meeting between the two took place on October 17, 2023. in Beijing during the international forum of the Chinese initiative "One Belt, One Road".
Milorad Dodik, President of Republika Srpska, also received an invitation to participate in the celebrations – semi-autonomous part of Bosnia and Herzegovina, populated mainly by ethnic Serbs and known for its pro-Russian stance.
