Russia announced the start of mass production of mobile bomb shelters "KUB-M", designed to protect against radiation, shrapnel, debris and fires, the research institute of the country's Ministry of Emergencies reported, quoted by "Reuters" and BTA.
The bomb shelter "KUB-M" it has the shape of a reinforced shipping container and can be deployed even in the harsh conditions of the Russian northern permafrost. The standard module has a capacity for 54 people, and additional modules can be added if necessary, the institute specifies.
Although the institution did not link the production to a specific crisis, the announcement comes amid heightened tensions surrounding the war in Ukraine. The conflict is entering a critical phase, with Russian forces marking their fastest advance since the start of the war in 2022.
At the same time, the administration of US President Joe Biden gave the green light to Ukraine to use US long-range missiles for deep strikes on Russian territory. The Kremlin described Biden's decision as "reckless" and warned that this would lead to the direct involvement of the US in the conflict. Russia said it would respond with "necessary measures", without providing specific details.
