Kyiv: No point in lowering conscription age when promised weapons are delayed - 1

It makes no sense for Ukraine to lower the minimum age for mobilization as the country is not receiving the weapon systems promised by the international partners, and there are not enough weapons for the already mobilized soldiers, the adviser to the Ukrainian president on communication, Dmytro Lytvyn, said today, quoted by Ukrinform, writes BTA.

Litvin reacts in "Ex" of articles in Western media that the US is calling on Ukraine to lower the minimum age for mobilization.

"It makes no sense to see calls for Ukraine to lower the age of mobilization, supposedly to mobilize more people, when we see previously announced equipment not arriving on time. Due to this delay, Ukraine does not have enough weapons to arm already mobilized soldiers," the adviser noted.

He added that partners have full access to the data and can compare promises with actual deliveries.

"Ukraine cannot be expected to make up for delays in logistics or fluctuations in support with its youth on the front lines," he added.

Yesterday, Reuters and the Associated Press reported, citing senior US officials, that the administration of President Joe Biden is calling on Ukraine to revise its conscription laws, with the aim of mobilizing males from the age of 18 and rapidly mobilizing more soldiers for its defense forces. Earlier, the US President's National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said that in addition to weapons, Ukraine needs additional human resources to strengthen its positions on the front line, Ukrainform recalls.
