Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine "categorically" rejected Russian accusations that Kiev supports Islamist rebels in Syria, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.
In a statement on the platform "Telegram" the ministry said that Ukraine, unlike Russia, unconditionally adheres to international law, and added that Moscow and Tehran are responsible for the deterioration of the security situation in Syria.
Earlier today, Moscow blamed Ukraine for the recent escalation in the Syrian civil war, saying Kiev was logistically supporting the rebel advance.
"We emphasize the presence of a clear Ukrainian trace in the ranks of foreign fighters, including from the post-Soviet space," said the spokeswoman of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova. She cited reports that Kiev's security services cooperated with "terrorists", supplying them with drones and sharing experience in their use.
On Sunday, the Ukrainian news site "Kiev Post" (Kyiv Post) reported that Ukrainian military intelligence was involved in training Islamist rebels in Syria.
In recent days, Syrian jihadists have taken control of large parts of Syria, including Aleppo, the country's second largest city.
Zakharova confirmed that Moscow continues to support Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, whom Russia kept in power in 2015. through his intervention.
The Russian Air Force said it is again carrying out intensive attacks on targets in Syria, including Aleppo.
