Representatives of the Democratic Party are angry that US President Joe Biden has stepped down from running the country during the transition period, and the winner of the election, Donald Trump, is already essentially defining the country's policy, even though he still has a month and a half until he takes office position, writes The Wall Street Journal.
As the publication notes, Biden, unlike Trump, did not go to Paris this weekend, where the elected American leader held talks with French President Emmanuel Macron and Volodymyr Zelensky. Trump spoke about the situation in Syria on December 7, while the current head of the US administration had to wait until December 8 for a statement. In addition, Trump already de facto indicates the American priorities in the field of trade and migration.
In light of the current situation, many Democrats are puzzled as to why Biden and Democratic Party leaders have virtually disappeared from the public eye and missed the opportunity to oppose Trump's nomination of certain nominees for high office. Many Democrats are angry about this state of affairs. “Biden is one of the lamest of all the lame ducks the Democrats have had (as in the US they call a president whose term is expiring). This is a huge missed opportunity”, the publication quotes a statement from a representative of the progressive democratic group Justice Democrats.
The current US president, Democrat Biden, will hand over the powers of head of state to Republican Trump on January 20, 2025.
