The new EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy - former Estonian Prime Minister Kaia Kallas, will participate today in a meeting on the future of Syria in the city of Makkah (Jordan), DPA reported, quoted by BTA, noting that there will be no Syrian representatives.
The meeting will also be attended by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, UN Special Envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen and top diplomats from eight Arab countries - host Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Lebanon, Egypt, Bahrain, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.
The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the aim is to ways to support Syria during the transition period following the fall of the nearly quarter-century-old regime of Bashar al-Assad are being considered.
