The transition team of the newly elected US president Donald Trump visited the US Department of Defense (Pentagon) to hold their first personal meetings.
The news was reported by the American television channel CNN, which cited its source from the department, reports Focus.
Lack of memorandum of understanding with the Biden administration
At the time of the visit, the Trump team had not signed a memorandum of understanding with the administration of incumbent President Joe Biden. According to a Defense Department source, this means:
- No equipment provided: The transition team will not receive computers or laptops.
- No official emails: The team will not have government email addresses.
However, the official emphasized:
“The Trump transition team will still have access to the Pentagon and use the spaces designated for its members.“
Talks begin before visit
Representatives of the transition team and the Pentagon already began talks last Friday, CNN previously reported. This first visit will aim to establish closer coordination and lay the groundwork for the transition process within the defense sector.
