The head of the Russian troops for radiation, chemical and biological protection, Lt. Gen. Igor Kirillov, died in an explosion that occurred earlier today on “Ryazansky Prospekt“ in Moscow. His aide also lost his life, BTA reports.
According to data from the Investigative Committee of Russia, the explosion was caused by the detonation of an explosive device, which was placed in an electric scooter and left at the entrance to an apartment building.

A spokesperson for the Investigative Committee stated:
„According to data from the investigation, this morning on „Ryazansky Prospekt“ in Moscow, an explosive device placed in an electric scooter left at the entrance to an apartment building was activated. The explosion killed the head of the radiation, chemical and biological protection troops of the Russian Armed Forces, Igor Kirillov, and his assistant.“
Investigation and criminal proceedings
The Investigative Committee has already opened criminal proceedings in connection with the incident. The authorities are conducting an investigation, and the details and possible persons responsible for the planted explosive device are yet to be established.
