Russian representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzia said at a meeting of the UN Security Council that Russia is not satisfied with the proposals to freeze the war in Ukraine. He added that Russia will continue to fight until Ukraine agrees to the conditions set by President Putin, the BBC reports, News.bg reports.
NATO's role in the conflict and Russia's reaction
Nebenzia specified that any attempts to freeze the conflict will not be accepted by Russia. According to him, these attempts are aimed at giving Ukraine the necessary break for rearmament. Nebenzia emphasized that NATO is part of Ukraine's problems, not their solution. In this context, he was categorical that Ukraine cannot have a role in the future resolution of the crisis.
Russia's conditions for negotiations
Nebenzia mentioned the conditions that Russia sets for starting negotiations with Ukraine. He indicated that Moscow is ready to start negotiations if Ukraine agrees to complete withdrawal of its troops from the DPR and LPR, as well as from Zaporozhye and Kherson regions. Russia considers these territories to be part of its annexed regions, although this act contradicts international law.
