The US has announced the imposition of sanctions against Russian-based companies for their participation in the construction of the "Nord Stream 2" gas pipeline. This was announced today by the State Department, quoted by Reuters and BTA.
Sanctions will also be imposed on new owners of vessels that were previously blocked by Washington.
We recall that in September 2022, a series of explosions seriously damaged and disrupted the "Nord Stream 1" and "Nord Stream 2" gas pipelines.
"Nord Stream 1" was the main channel for transporting Russian gas to Germany, but "Nord Stream 2" never entered commercial operation due to the start of the war launched by Russia against Ukraine.
