There are no prerequisites for organizing a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President-elect Donald Trump, said the Russian leader's press secretary Dmitry Peskov.
“There have been no real impulses yet“, he said in response to a question about whether there was a possibility of a meeting before Trump's inauguration.
Yesterday, Trump said he was looking forward to meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin to resolve the Ukrainian conflict.
“President Putin said he wanted to meet with me as soon as possible. We have to end this war“, Trump said at the AmericaFest conference in Phoenix, Arizona. He again stated that the Ukrainian conflict would not have flared up if he had been the US president at the time.
On December 19, Putin said that he was ready to talk to Trump at any time and agreed to meet with him. He noted that he did not know when he would meet with Trump.
Earlier, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, said that Moscow was ready for contacts with Washington to resolve the Ukrainian crisis, but had not yet received any serious proposals from the Trump team.
