Syrian National Coalition: We have no communication with the new administration - 1

Hadi al-Bahra, who led the Syrian National Coalition, which received international recognition during the rule of the previous administration, said that the group had not received an invitation to the national dialogue announced by the current government in Damascus, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.

There has been no communication with the new administration, he stressed in an interview with "Al-Arabiya" television, which was broadcast yesterday.

Syria's de facto leader, Ahmed al-Sharaa, said a day earlier that the conference for national dialogue would include broad participation of Syrian society with a vote on issues such as the dissolution of parliament and the constitution.

The current administration has not yet announced a date for the announced dialogue.

Al-Sharaa heads the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham group, which on 8 ousted former President Bashar al-Assad in December.

The group's lightning campaign ended a 13-year civil war but left many questions about the future of the multi-ethnic country, where foreign powers including Turkey and Russia have strong and potentially competing interests.

The internationally recognized Syrian National Coalition, which operated from Turkey under Assad, was formed in 2012 to topple the previous administration. Al-Bahra told Al-Arabiya that he had returned to Damascus and planned to operate from there.

Meanwhile, Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein told his Syrian counterpart, Assad Hassan al-Shibani, that Baghdad wanted to return its diplomatic mission to the Syrian capital, Damascus, the Iraqi Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
