A state of emergency was declared on the first day of the new year 2025 in the Manchester area due to flooding as a result of heavy rains in the United Kingdom, BNR reported.
More than 100 flood warnings were issued in the United Kingdom. Police in Manchester and the suburbs reported that people were stranded in their homes without running water and electricity, while others were rescued from their cars literally swallowed by floods.
In many parts of the country, flood and strong wind warnings remain. Forecasts are that temperatures will drop sharply overnight and snowfall is possible in the coming days until the end of the week.
Warnings have also been issued in Scotland for ice.
A yellow warning code for snow has been issued for the weekend in many places, starting from southern Scotland, through northern and central England, Wales and atypically for the British capital London, where it very rarely rains and snow stays in winter.
