At least 50 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli airstrikes in the Gaza Strip over the past 24 hours, the Al Jazeera television channel reported.
According to the media outlet, the latest deaths include eight residents of the Az-Zaytoun area of Gaza City in the northern part of the enclave, as well as a mother and son in the southern city of Khan Yunis.
The Al Masirah television channel reported reports that Israeli artillery is carrying out intensive strikes on the southern part of the Gaza Strip, shelling northern Rafah and a number of areas in the eastern part of Khan Yunis.
On March 18, the Israeli army renewed military operations in the Gaza Strip, launching massive strikes against the enclave and thus breaking the ceasefire established in January of this year.
The cabinet of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu justified this by the rejection of the radical Palestinian movement “Hamas“ from the proposals made during the negotiations with the mediators and the special envoy of the US President Stephen Witkoff, stating that the goal of the operation in the sector is the release of all hostages. The radicals accused Israel and the US of the renewal of military operations.
