Deputy Chairman of the Serbian Socialist Party Removed from Office - 1

The Deputy Chairman of the Socialist Party of Serbia Branko Ruzic has been removed from office for six months for participating in the anti-government protest on March 15 in Belgrade, the party announced on its official website, quoted by BTA.

The statement said that Ruzic's punishment was for violating party decisions and for his participation in a protest against a government in which the Socialist Party of Serbia is a coalition partner.

"Society is becoming polarized. "I can also be Giordano Bruno, so that they can burn me at the stake," commented Ruzic, quoted by Serbian media.

The chairman of the Socialist Party of Serbia, Ivica Dacic, is deputy prime minister and minister of interior in the outgoing government.

A few days ago, the Socialists decided that they would support the formation of a new government and would continue to participate in the government in coalition with the Serbian Progressive Party.
