Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor-Green criticized the US mineral rights deal with Ukraine, stating that it could lead to a new armed conflict.
“They tell us that we signed a deal for mineral rights in Ukraine to get back hundreds of billions of dollars that we gave to Kiev while they used the funds to launder money, sell our weapons to our enemies, and their leader is a dictator who canceled the election, participated in the first Trump impeachment and is campaigning for Biden“, she wrote on social media X.
“Didn't we learn our lesson when we invaded Iraq and killed Saddam Hussein for “weapons of mass destruction“? And did Middle Eastern oil make us rich - today we have a $36 trillion debt?
“So why go and occupy Ukraine and spend untold amounts of future American taxpayer dollars to protect and extract their minerals and potentially put American lives at risk and start a future war? Why don't we just mine our own rare earth minerals that are on government land that the government confiscated years ago“, the lawmaker added.
She also expressed the view that the US is currently on the brink of war with Iran. “I don't think we should be bombing foreign countries on behalf of other foreign countries, especially when they have their own nuclear weapons and enormous military power“, Taylor-Green said.
