Bloomberg: Rubio Lost an Ally in the White House

His Views with the Fired Michael Walz Matched on Many Issues, the Agency Comments

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has lost an ally in the White House after Michael Walz was fired as the President's National Security Advisor. Their views coincide in many areas, differing from the positions of others close to US leader Donald Trump, Bloomberg reports.

„While Walz's departure gives Rubio more power, it also leaves the Secretary of State without an ally in Washington on a number of issues. He and Walz are united in many of their publicly stated political positions, with a traditionally conservative slant that is consistent with decades of Republican policy,“ the publication says.

It is noted that the views of Rubio and Walz do not coincide with the position of other close Trump associates from among supporters of the MAGA movement. At the same time, as the agency writes, Rubio may continue to combine the posts of State Department head and interim national security adviser for a long time, as the search for a permanent replacement for Walz is still ongoing.

Among the candidates being considered are Trump's special envoy Richard Grenell, White House deputy chief of staff and homeland security adviser Stephen Miller, and National Security Council member Sebastian Gorka, who is responsible for combating terrorism.

On Thursday, Trump announced the dismissal of Walz, the main figure in the scandal involving the leak of classified information through the Signal messenger. Later, the American leader added that he would nominate Walz as the next permanent representative of the United States to the United Nations. Trump said that the duties of national security adviser would temporarily pass to Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who will retain his post at the State Department.
