US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth plans to visit Israel before President Donald Trump's visit to the Middle East, the Axios portal reported, citing sources among the Israeli authorities.
According to them, Hegseth's visit to Israel is expected on May 12. There, the Pentagon chief intends to hold meetings with his counterpart Israel Katz, as well as with the Prime Minister of the Jewish state Benjamin Netanyahu. After that, Hegseth is expected to join Trump on a Middle East tour.
Earlier, the White House announced that Trump would travel to the Middle East from May 13 to 16, visiting Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the UAE.
