Hakan Fidan discusses rising tensions with India with Pakistan - 1

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan held a phone call with his Pakistani counterpart Ishaq Dar late last night, during which they discussed the rising tensions between India and Pakistan and the latest developments in the conflict between the two nuclear powers. This was reported by the Anadolu Agency, BTA reports.

Last night, India carried out a missile attack on Pakistani territory, stating that the targets were nine terrorist sites. For their part, Pakistani authorities reported that the strikes totaled 24 and hit civilian areas in six different locations, with eight dead and 35 injured.

In parallel, artillery clashes in the area of the village of Poonch, located in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir, killed at least ten people and injured 48. According to Agence France-Presse, citing local authorities and police, the clashes took place along the disputed border between the two countries in the Himalayas.

Amid the escalation, the Turkish DHA agency reported that Turkish Airlines and Pegasus Airlines planes traveling to Islamabad and Karachi had canceled their flights and returned, landing in Istanbul.

The conflict escalated after the attack in late April in the Indian part of Kashmir, which killed 26 tourists. Indian authorities blamed Pakistan for the attack, but Islamabad denied any involvement. In response, both countries imposed mutual sanctions and restrictions.
