US President Donald Trump described as "shameful" the Indian military attack on Pakistan carried out tonight and expressed hope that the tension between the two countries will be brought under control quickly, The Guardian reports, Fokus reports.
“It's unfortunate. We just heard about it“, Trump told reporters at the White House. He stressed that such a development was predictable, since the conflict between India and Pakistan has deep historical roots.
“People knew something was going to happen, based on the past. The two countries have been fighting for many, many decades and even centuries. I just hope this ends very quickly“, the president added.
According to the media, The Indian army has attacked nine targets inside Pakistan, including in the disputed region of Jammu and Kashmir. The strikes have killed at least 70 people and injured 12 others.
