Denmark will provide Ukraine with its 26th aid package, which will include artillery installations, ammunition, fighter equipment and an expanded training program. The package is worth 4.2 billion kroner (630 million USD) and is intended for the period 2025-2028, according to a press release from the kingdom's Ministry of Defense.
“Unfortunately, Ukraine's need for help and support has not decreased“, Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen was quoted as saying in the press release. - Denmark has been a strong supporter of Ukraine since the beginning of the war. The same will happen in the coming years.“
The ammunition will be delivered as part of a joint initiative of the Czech Republic, Denmark and the Netherlands, established in the spring of 2024 to “join forces to finance the purchase of artillery shells for Ukraine“.
“For our part, we are doing everything we can to ensure that Ukraine has the best possible cards both on the battlefield and in the negotiating room. The best we can do here and now is to increase military support for Ukraine and strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities,“ commented Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen.
As of February 2022, Danish aid to Ukraine amounts to approximately EUR 8.5 billion in military support and approximately EUR 854 million in EUR civic support.
