From today, men internally displaced in Ukraine will be subject to mobilization in the country's Armed Forces, on an equal basis with other men aged 25 and over.

According to Verkhovna Rada deputy Elena Shulyak, in March, almost 5 million internally displaced persons were officially registered in Ukraine. There is no data in official sources on how many of them are men of mobilization age.

Internally displaced men of mobilization age must register at the territorial recruitment center according to the place of temporary registration. Even if the documents are lost, the displaced are not exempted from the obligation to report to the military service for registration. In addition, they are required to report any change in the place of registration within 10 days of moving. If a citizen decides to return to his previous place of residence, he is obliged to notify the relevant authority no later than three days before departure.

Since February 2022, general mobilization has been declared in Ukraine, which has been extended several times. On May 18 last year, a law came into force in the country that allows as many Ukrainians as possible to be called up for military service. The authorities are doing everything possible to ensure that men of draft age cannot avoid military service. However, recently the pace of replenishment of the ranks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces has slowed down, and Kiev recognizes a critical shortage of personnel in the army.
