The ban on entry into the United States, covering citizens of 12 countries, came into effect today at midnight Eastern American time, world agencies report, BTA reports.
The restriction applies to citizens of the following countries: Afghanistan, Myanmar, Chad, Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen.
The measure was introduced by US President Donald Trump, who stated that its purpose is to protect the country from foreign terrorists and other threats to national security.
