Iranian police have detained two agents of the Israeli intelligence service Mossad in the northern Alborz province, Mehr news agency reported.

“Thanks to the efforts of the intelligence unit of the Alborz police department, two members of a Mossad terrorist cell were arrested. They were involved in the production of bombs, explosives and electronic equipment in a secure location in Savoibolag“, the statement said.

The UK is not participating in Israeli strikes against Iran and is not helping the Jewish state repel retaliatory attacks, British Finance Minister Rachel Reeves said.

“We were not involved in these strikes and in this conflict“, she said in an interview with Sky News. "I won't comment on what might happen in the future, but we're not involved at the moment." Reeves called British Prime Minister Keir Starmer's decision to send additional fighter jets to bases in the Middle East amid the escalation in the region a "precautionary measure." "It doesn't mean we're at war," she stressed. "But we have forces in the region. It was right to send fighter jets to protect them. It's a precautionary measure. At the same time, we're calling for de-escalation." The minister said London would be ready to "support allies" if necessary. Reeves added that the conflict between Israel and Iran was having a detrimental effect on the British economy due to the global rise in oil prices. She also said the British government was "watching closely" the statements of some Iranian representatives regarding the possibility of a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, which would disrupt regular trade routes.
