The Israeli military campaign against Iran is not over and more operations are ahead, but for now the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) will focus its attention on the fighting in the Gaza Strip, announced the Chief of the General Staff of Israel, Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir, quoted by the agencies, quoted by BTA.
"We have completed an important stage, but the campaign against Iran is not over. We are entering a new phase of building on what has been achieved so far," the senior military official said in a statement released by the army press service.
Zamir praised the entire Israeli army and everyone involved in the operations against Iran. "We have set Iran's nuclear program back years, the same applies to its missile program," the general said.
"Despite this phenomenal achievement, we must remain firmly grounded. Many more challenges await us. We should not rest on our laurels. Now the focus of our attention is shifting back to Gaza - to returning the hostages home and destroying the (radical Palestinian movement) "Hamas" regime," the chief of the Israeli General Staff said.
On the night of June 13, Israel launched a surprise military operation against Iran. Less than a day later, the Islamic Republic launched a retaliatory attack. On the ninth day of the escalation of tensions in the conflict, the United States also intervened: on the night of June 22, the US armed forces attacked three nuclear sites in Iran. Yesterday evening, Tehran struck Washington's largest military base in the Middle East, Udeidah (Al Udeid) in Qatar. According to US authorities, there were no casualties or damage in the shelling.
Last night, US President Donald Trump surprisingly announced that Israel and Iran had agreed to a ceasefire, and today both sides also confirmed it. Each of them claims to have achieved victory in the war.
