The Israeli army is developing a strategy to ensure that Iran cannot again threaten the country's security. This was stated today by Defense Minister Israel Katz, quoted by Reuters, BTA reports.
According to him, the Israeli armed forces must be prepared both in intelligence and operational terms to ensure air superiority and prevent the restoration of Iranian military and nuclear capabilities.
Katz's statement comes in the context of tensions between the two countries, which have increased after a 12-day escalation last month, during which Israeli forces struck Iranian nuclear sites. Israel has said the aim of the operations is to prevent Tehran from developing nuclear weapons.
Iran, for its part, categorically denies such intentions, claiming that its nuclear program is entirely peaceful in nature.
Following the escalation, on June 24, with US mediation, the two sides reached an agreement to halt the attacks, although long-term stability in the region remains in question.
